Security Tips:
- Locks must be re-keyed or changed when you move in.
- Always choose solid wood. A hollow wood door can be easily kicked in.
- Choose a high-quality deadbolt and make sure it’s locked at all time, make sure the bolt is extending for at least 1 inch into the strike plate.
- If there is a glass window 35 inches or less from a lock, install a double-sided cylinder lock.
- In-office buildings or workplaces with security levels, a Master Key System or Electronic Access Control can offer different access levels to different individuals.
Information about Lock Bumping
- 90% of American doors use an old-style cylinder lock which is vulnerable to Lock Bumping
- Your door lock can be lock bumped even by a 10 years old child.
- Anyone can make a bump key in 5 minutes or less.
- When a burglar uses a bump key to break into your house then there are no signs of forced entry or damage to the lock. This makes the insurance companies very weary in paying for the claim. You could lose everything and not get compensated because of lock bumping and bump keys.
